Tsurumi Pump, a global leader in pumping solutions, offers flexibility and performance with its line of VFD inverter panels. VFD inverter panels enable operators to run three-phase power in locations where only single phase 230V power is available. This is a practical solution for submersible pump installation in remote areas. In lieu of using an inverter panel, operators have the option to work with an electrician or utility to install a new three-phase power supply. Industries such as wastewater management, campgrounds, rest areas, lift stations, apartment complexes, and assisted living facilities often benefit from VFD panels.
VFD Panel Benefits
Inverter panels provide a cost-effective solution for powering pumps. Key benefits include:
• Energy efficiency: operating with three-phase power delivers smoother motor performance and energy savings, reducing utility costs over time.
• Precision control: pump speed and performance can be adjusted to meet specific requirements without impeller trimming, improving process control and system efficiency.
• Soft start protection: VFDs reduce inrush current by gradually ramping up the motor speed, protecting motor insulation and extending pump life while minimizing stress on piping.
Tsurumi’s Inverter Panel Solutions
All Tsurumi inverter panels are UL 508 listed for use in the US and Canada, ensuring compliance with industry standards for safety and reliability. Tsurumi’s T-VFD Series of inverter panels is designed to provide reliable power for pumps up to 15 HP. The panels combine the functionality of a standard VFD with the convenience of Tsurumi’s industry-trusted simplex and duplex wastewater control systems. Constructed in a NEMA 3R enclosure, the T-VFD panel includes heavy duty VFD drives, pump circuit breakers, fan/vent system, alarm beacon, and an alarm buzzer. These features offer simplicity with the rugged reliability that Tsurumi customers expect.
For the water feature market, Tsurumi’s 95-96 Series inverter panels offer similar benefits as the T-VFD Series. These panels are suitable for single-phase 230V pumps up 20 HP. The 95-96 Series includes a heavy duty VFD, variable speed potentiometer, heavy duty enclosure, vent/fan cooling, circuit breaker functionality, and the option to connect an optional low water cutout float switch.
With a VFD inverter panel, customers can unlock the full performance of Tsurumi’s three-phase submersible, chopper, cutter, and grinder pumps. In turn, this offers greater torque, motor protection and energy efficiency than single phase systems. Additionally, single phase explosion proof pump options are sparse due to capacitors being a source of ignition. Installing a VFD inverter panel, away from the hazardous location, allows for a much wider selection of FM certified products such as the Tsurumi AVANT® line. Ultimately, inverter panels serve as a solution for users in need of three-phase power.
