Advancing Industry Demands through Tsurumi’s Yonago Plant

As industry demands evolve, so must the way that critical equipment is designed, manufactured and tested. At Tsurumi Pump’s Yonago Plant in Japan, innovation is viewed as an approach that connects engineering, advanced casting, and research and development under one roof.

The Yonago Plant serves as a hub to produce large drainage and submersible pumps, along with liquid ring vacuum pumps and compressors. The products are used across a range of applications including water supply, sewage systems, and industrial facilities. Beyond manufacturing, the plant operates as a research environment, where new technologies are continually developed. 

At the plant’s Molding Research Building, is a state-of-the-art sand casting additive manufacturing device for 3D printing. This machine eliminates the need for traditional wood casting patterns, which has historically required significant time and manual labor. Tsurumi enables greater design flexibility for customized products by transitioning to digital manufacturing production.

The technology is supported by capabilities within Tsurumi’s Fluid Research Building. Using CAD, CAM, and CAE technology, engineers can visualize casting performance, identify potential flaws, and verify product accuracy before product is complete. These tools help ensure that each component meets strict quality standards while streamlining the overall manufacturing process. 

Significant to Yonago Plant’s capabilities is its large scale testing infrastructure. The facility features underground test tanks reaching depths of up to 36 feet.  This allows engineers to evaluate pump performance with discharge diameters up to 2,000 mm, as well as large liquid ring vacuum pumps and compressors. By testing equipment at full scale, Tsurumi can validate real-world performance and reliability before products are deployed in the field.
