When a truck stop faced unexpected pump issues, Flowquip and Tsurumi stepped in to turn the situation around.
Recently, a customer reached out to Flowquip Solutions stating that they were having issues with pumps that were purchased from a different supplier that they were unable to contact. Flowquip’s team quickly mobilized to assess the issue on-site. After reviewing the system and verifying performance data, they found that the originally supplied pumps were both misapplied and undersized for the actual operating conditions. The engineering design specifications contained discharge head miscalculations, preventing the pumps from generating enough pressure to move water through the system.
Using field verification, Flowquip used a laser to measure elevations and calculated the dynamic head of the piping network. Measurement changes, elbows, and valves were taken into consideration when evaluating the site as well. With accurate system data in hand, the team recommended a solution built around Tsurumi Pump’s C Series Cutter Pump™.
The Tsurumi C Series pump offered the right performance without requiring upgrades to the control panel, an important consideration for the customer who had already invested in new electrical components. The pump also provided the benefits of shredding capability to handle solids more effectively. Tsurumi’s flange adapters ensured a smooth installation that integrated seamlessly with the existing guide rail system.
All items were in stock, allowing the system to promptly run without major construction or costly redesign. Flowquip’s application expertise in combination with Tsurumi’s proven pump technology provided a practical solution for the truck stop.
